Prof. Chen has been devoting his efforts on Orthopaedic Surgery for almost 30 years. Specifically, Prof. Chen and his team are working on the basic research about tissue engineering methods to repair of cartilage damage, bone fracture or bone defect by the pre-cartilage stem cells and stem cells from other source. His clinical contributions also include the development to the hip and knee arthroplasty, surgical treatment to sports injuries, bone injuries and other spinal diseases. While serving as a professor at the School of Medicine and Health Management and President of Tongji hospital, he creates innovations about the hospital management and performance management.
