Sino--German Clinical Trial Center
On October 28th 2011, at the invitation of Nephrology Department, Professor Dr. med. Hermann Haller, the Full Professor and Chair of Division of Nephrology and Dean of Medical Education of Hannover Medical School, as well as the Coordinator of Integrated research and treatment of Medical Education and centre for transplantation (IFB) from Medizinische Hochschule Hannover, Germany visited Tongji Hospital. In order to do more cooperation on clinical trial, Tongji Hospital and Hannover Medical College set up the Sino-German Clinical Trial Center together. From the year 2011 to 2013, Prof. Haller sent his colleagues to Tongji Hospital for several times to exchange ideas of clinical trial.
The most important success is the ISN Workshop Program. In November 2012, the review meeting was held in San Diego, USA. The Renal Sister Center, which is founded by Hannover and Tongji, has been approved. Since then, Tongji Hospital has become the 7th renal sister center in China.


Prof. Hermann Haller, Full Professor and Chair of Division of Nephrology and Dean of Medical Education of Hannover Medical School, as well as the Coordinator of Integrated research and treatment of Medical Education and centre for transplantation (IFB). He obtained the M.D. in Department of Endocrinology in the Free University Berlin in 1982. He devotes to the research on Pathogenesis and consequences of hypertension and Kidney and vessel injury and regeneration. Since 1992, he has participated in more than 50 clinical phase I-III studies in the fields of hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, kidney disease, anemia treatment and transplantation, several large international multicenter studies and a GCP-ICH training course. He has published a number of articles in international peer reviewed journals including The New England and got many international honors and awards. Now he is in the scientific board of DFG (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft) and the editorial board of several international peer reviewed journals.


Prof. Gang XU is the Director of departmentof Nephrology in Tongji Hospital, Tongji Medical College,Huazhong University of Science and Technology. He is President of Hubei Society of Blood Purification Administration, committee member of Hubei Medical Association of Renal Disease , standing committee member of Chinese Society of Renal Physician, member of Chinese Society of Blood Purification Administration. Moreover ,Professor Gang Xu is the Chief Editor of Journal of Clinical Nephrology as well as Editor of Journals, such as Chinese Journal of Nephrology, Chinese Journal of Blood Purification, et al. He host National Natural Science Foundation of China for many times. Besides, he host Program for New Century Excellent Talents in University, a Urumqi research Supported by the Department of National Technology and The principal of Industry Special of The Chinese Ministry of Health prevention and treatment of major diseases. Professor Gang Xu participate in the research program of National ‘973’. He has publicated papers more than 60, more than 40 SCI papers included. He chieved First Class Achievement Award of Medical Science and Technology of China.

Dr. Guang DU is the Director of Pharmacy in Tongji Hospital, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology. He also chairs Hubei Clinical Pharmacy Quality Control Center.  In Hubei Pharmacy Association, Dr. Du holds the positions of Vice Director in Hospital Pharmacy Committee and the executive member of the council. Dr. Du. is the standing committee member of Hubei Hospital Management Association Pharmaceutical Affairs Office. In Wuhan Pharmacy Association, Dr. Du is the Vice President and Chairman of the Hospital Pharmacy Committee. In Wuhan Hospital Management Association, Dr. Du holds the Vice President of the Pharmaceutical Affairs Office.
Dr. Du has over 20 years of experience in pharmacy practice, research and education. He has led over 10 national research projects funded by The National Natural Science Foundation, Hubei Science and Technology Key Research Projects Foundation, and Hubei Natural Science Foundation. He has published over 100 peer-reviewed papers and 14 10 books related to pharmacy research and practice. Widely known for his achievements and contribution in pharmacy research, Dr. Du won the First Prize of Hubei Scientific and Technological Progress Award. He is currently the associate editor of peer-reviewed journals including Herald of Medicine, Drug Evaluation, and Chinese Pharmacy.
Dr. Du’s research focuses on the quality control of preparation technology, active ingredients identification, and molecular mechanisms elucidation of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).
