Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery of Tongji Hospital is one of the leading centres in China. It is proud of its tradition of excellence in patients care, education, and research. It is one of the key department of Hubei province, resident training base of Chinese Ministry of Health, and clinical trial base of drug of National Food and Drug Administration. It provides state of the art ENT techniques for the diagnosis and treatment of ENT diseases. There are ten professors, six associate professors, seven attending doctors, and six residents in the department.

Specialities include nose-anterior skull base surgery, ear-lateral skull base surgery, tumors of head and neck, and sleeping medicine. More than 120,000 outpatient visits are made to the department every year, which ranks top 1 in ENT discipline in Hubei Province. The ward contains 88 hospital beds.

In recent years, the department has been supported by several grants from National Nature and Science Fundation of China to conduct scientific researches for the better understanding of the sinus and ear diseases. The department also takes the responsibility for the education and training of medical students, master and PhD students, and residents. The department published several books including Guidelines of Diagnosis and Treatment of Otolaryngology- Head and Neck Diseases.

The department has established collaboration with world distinguished hospitals as Johns Hopkins Hospital (US), Fulda Teaching Hospital of Marburg University (Germany), and Otorhinolaryngology Hospital of Graz University (Austria) for mutual scientific exchanges.
